LocatorŪ Overdenture Attachment System Now Available from Zimmer Dental, Inc.

Zimmer Dental Inc., a leading provider of dental oral rehabilitation products and a division of Zimmer Holdings, Inc., is pleased to announce the availability of the Locator Overdenture Attachment system. Manufactured by Zest Anchors, Inc., the Locator system offers clinicians an attachment with an extremely low profile, a self-aligning feature which aids patients in seating their denture, and a dual retention feature for long-lasting durability.

The vertical height of the Locator attachment (including abutment and metal cap) is as low as 2.5mm for the internal hex and internal octagon connections manufactured by Zimmer Dental, and as low as 3.5mm for the Spline® implant. The height serves as an advantage for cases with limited interocclusal height or when retrofitting an existing denture.

The unique self-aligning feature allows the patient to seat their own denture in the right place every time, significantly eliminating wear and tear from improper seating. The rounded edges of the abutment help guide the nylon male within the denture into place. It also decreases the wear on the nylon male leading to a durable attachment, thereby retaining on the inside and outside of the abutment to provide a stronger, longer-lasting fit. The metal housing pivots over the top of the nylon male, absorbing some of the occlusal forces. The durability of the attachment and the nylon liners reduces the frequency of a patient’s visit to the doctor’s office to replace them.

The Locator attachment system will also accommodate divergent implants between up to 20 degrees per abutment. A variety of abutment heights, angulation correction and levels of retention are available to help the clinician or laboratory technician create the optimum overdenture restoration for each case.
